MapMyRoots provides a free, web-based family tree builder that allows users to:

• Create and visualize family trees
• Store family member information locally on their device
• Export family tree data in various formats
• Customize and style family trees

The Service is provided completely free of charge with no premium features or subscriptions.

3. No Account Required

MapMyRoots does not require users to create an account. All family tree data is stored locally on your device using browser LocalStorage. You are responsible for backing up your data by exporting it regularly.

4. Acceptable Use

4.1 Permitted Use

You may use the Service for any lawful purpose related to creating and managing family trees, including:

• Personal family history research
• Educational projects
• Family reunions and events
• Preserving family history

4.2 Prohibited Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Service

You retain all rights to the family tree data you create. Since data is stored locally on your device:

• You own all family tree data you create
• You have complete control over your data
• You are responsible for the accuracy of information you input
• You are responsible for backing up your data
• We are not liable for any data loss

5.2 Privacy and Personal Information

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use and share any personal information about individuals in your family tree. Please respect privacy rights and obtain appropriate consent when sharing family trees containing personal information about living individuals.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our IP

The Service, including its design, code, graphics, and user interface, is owned by MapMyRoots and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without permission.

6.2 Open Source

Certain components of the Service may be subject to open source licenses. These components are provided under their respective open source licenses.

7. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

8. Data Loss

Since your family tree data is stored locally on your device, we cannot recover lost data. Data may be lost if you:

• Clear your browser's cache or LocalStorage
• Uninstall your browser
• Experience device failure or corruption
• Reset your device to factory settings

Important: Regularly export and backup your family tree data to prevent loss.

9. Service Availability

We strive to provide continuous access to the Service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

• Scheduled maintenance
• Technical difficulties
• Circumstances beyond our control

10. Modifications to Service and Terms
